STRATEGIES AND CURRENT TASK STATUS
 
INTRODUCTION
In order to more actively and effectively promote and manage General Education and their relate business, the University passed a resolution to set up this committee in the 27th University Administrative Meeting in 2003. Under this committee, there are Center for General Education and Arts Center .
 
VISION
The University takes up the tasks of equipping students to be well educated, broad minded, well knowledge human being and preparing them to be future leaders with outstanding intelligence, moral integrity, for them to benefit to the society and to mankind.
 
GOALS
The goals of General Education of the University are:
1. Stimulating students' interests and potential abilities,
2. Strengthening students' abilities of thinking and judgment,
3. Improving students' skills of communication and writing,
4. Bringing up students' abilities of international thinking and social adjustment,
5. Enhancing students' abilities of appreciating arts,
6. Guiding students to comprehend and respect the value of heterogeneity of cultures,
7. Directing students to understand the true value of democracy and freedom, preparing them with the ethics and courage of defending democracy and freedom.
 
CURRICULUM AND TRAINING
To fulfill the goals mentioned above, the University will equip the students with core abilities through a carefully planned curriculum. The core abilities are: caring, innovation, communication, integration and executing. The curriculum has been designed including three areas:
1. Literature and Humanity: Literature, Writing, Philosophy, Arts, Foreign Languages,
2. Social Science: Sociology, Politics, Economics, Psychology, Communication, History, Gender Studies, Management, Globalization Studies, Multi-cultures Studies.
3. Nature Science: General Nature Science, Electronic and Information Science, Engineering, Biotechnology, and their effects to the humanity and the society.
With the solid curriculum as above, coupled with General Education Lectures, Seminars as well as some students・ activities, the students can have a broad and balanced holistic education. This is illustrated as:

CREDITS REQUIREMENTS
An undergraduate student should take a total of 20 to 22 credits among the three areas. Respectively, in the Literature and Humanity, Social Science and Natural Science, the students in The College of Humanity and Social Science should take at least 2, 4, 4 credits, and those in the Colleges of Natural Science and Engineering should take at least 4 , 4 , 2 credits.
 
GENERAL EDUCATION LECTURES
Owing to the historical reasons, the University is in short of the faculty members specializing in humanity, social science, and liberal arts. To make up the deficiency, the University not only encourages the faculty in other departments but also invites scholars both from other universities and other countries to teach various General Education courses.
The lectures are in ways of workshops, performances, exhibitions, or distance learning so as to upgrade the level of the General Education.
 
COURSE CREDIT WAIVING
To encourage the independent study or classic reading, the University will waive some credits requirements in General Education or foreign language. The details can be addressed by the appropriate centers.
To enhance the students・ foreign language capabilities and the international perspectives, the University encourages the students to participate in the Student Exchange Program with Sister Universities abroad. The exchange students can waive some requirement of the General Education in terms course credits. The details are formulated by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Center for General Education.
